Kountze Commons Community Outreach Center is excited to announce they will be partnering with Omaha Bridges Out of Poverty as a host site for classes in 2025!
The mission of Omaha Bridges is to empower under-resourced families to change their lives by discovering and overcoming barriers to success. Omaha Bridges fulfills this mission by offering classes and Life Skills Coaching to work with individuals toward a permanent solution for reducing poverty. KCCOC’s mission is to Feed the Hungry, Heal the Sick, Tend the Soul. The partnership with Omaha Bridges will truly Tend the Soul.
Omaha Bridges looks at poverty as more than financial. An individual may have barriers to success based on other forms of poverty: physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, social capital, language, integrity, persistence, relationships, and knowledge.
To overcome these barriers, Omaha Bridges offers the Getting Ahead curriculum. These classes teach the development of soft skills, time management, problem solving, formal register of language, personal financial management, negotiation, mediation, controlling emotion, resilience, abstract thinking, and goal setting. In addition to classes, Omaha Bridges offers Life Skills Coaches to provide continual support to graduates, helping them to achieve their personal goals by connecting them to necessary resources.
According to Omaha Bridges, individuals who participate in these classes on average have an income increase of $1,500 per month, their debt to income ratio drops to 50%, and they experience an asset increase of $7,500.
KCCOC is looking forward to collaborating with Omaha Bridges to help serve the Omaha community!
